Do pigeons know how to use Twitter?
Posted: March 29, 2011 Filed under: SONGS | Tags: Innocents of Paris, Louise, Maurice Chevalier, Name Songs, theme songs, Twitter 4 CommentsMaurice Chevalier first sang Louise in the 1929 movie Innocents of Paris. I love this song, but one line is baffling. Birds in the trees seem to Twitter Louise? Do most sparrows know how about Twitter?
LOUISE
S’Wonderful! Oh, it’s wonderful
To be in love with you.
Beautiful! You’re so beautiful
You haunt me all day through.
Every little breeze seems to whisper Louise
Birds in the trees seem to twitter “Louise.
Each little rose
Tells me it knows I love you, love you.
Every little beat that I feel in my heart,
Seems to repeat,
What I felt from the start,
Each little sigh
Tells me that I adore you, Louise.
Just to see and hear you
Brings joy I never knew
But to be so near you,
Thrills me through and through
Every little breeze seems to whisper Louise.
Birds in the trees seem to twitter Louise.
Each little rose
Tells me it knows I love you, love you.
Anyone can see why I wanted your kiss,
It had to be
But the wonder is this:
Can it be true, someone like you could love me, Louise?
Hey Lou, my middle name is Louise and my mum used to sing and hum that very same song to me, almost every time I talked with her or asked her something. My first name being Clare meant that both parents and siblings used to sing me the Gilbert O’Sullivan song of the same name . It was my song – I love the fact that names are associated with songs and become our own.
My dad used to sing K-K-K Katie to my sister…
Hi Lou, Thanks for today and for sharing so much. Love the video.
Great to chat, looking forward to more conversations with Kate
